Rainbow Six Siege cracking down on homophobia, racism

Rainbow Six Siege is using a new system to target in-game homophobic and racial slurs, Ubisoft has recently confirmed.

The news comes by way of Reddit, where Community Manager Craig Robertson detailed “a new method of banning players that are acting in a wholly inappropriate manner.”

Robertson added that the new system is part of a “long term plan for addressing toxicity” before reassuring most users that they won’t be targeted.

“For those of you concerned, don’t use racial slurs, homophobic slurs, or tell people to kill themselves and you’ll be fine,” he wrote. “And before anyone says it, no, we really don’t care at all about the ‘context’ of the string of slurs you dropped in chat.”

Addressing a specific comment, Robertson confirmed that a player who said, “my nigga” in a congratulatory way would still be flagged under the new system.

Rainbow Six: Siege is available now on Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4.
