Rainbow Six Parasite is Quarantine’s new placeholder name

Much better already.

Rainbow Six Parasite is a placeholder name of the upcoming Rainbow Six Quarantine, Ubisoft has confirmed.

As initially reported by MP1ST, the game’s placeholder name change has been reflected in a patch uploaded to the PlayStation Network. The outlet says the “initial launch patch” came complete with a new splash screen (above) alongside a PS Vita Remote play controller scheme.

Ubisoft confirmed with IGN that Rainbow Six Quarantine‘s name would change after Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot suggested as much earlier in the month, but also advised that Parasite is merely a placeholder.

“While we recently shared that we will be changing the name of Rainbow Six Quarantine, ‘Parasite‘ is only a placeholder that our internal teams use,” an Ubisoft representative said. “We are very happy with the interest generated by this game’s development and will share more details, including the official name, soon.”

If you ask us, the name works — Parasite, after all, is about a malicious alien entity that’s taken hold of a remote space station. Spooky.

We’ll have more on Rainbow Six Parasite as news becomes available. The title is expected later in the year.
