PUBG mobile edition announced by Tencent, Bluehole

PUBG mobile will soon be a real thing, announced by Tencent and Bluehole earlier this week.

The catch? It appears to be a China-only release, at least at launch.

Tencent is also hard at work on a localised version of the PC version of the game, tasked to add “socialist core values, Chinese traditional culture and moral rules” to the popular battle royale-style title.

A release date for the mobile version of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds wasn’t detailed, though Tencent promised to provide more details “in the near future”.

“Thanks to the excellent accumulation of PUBG on the PC terminal and the teamwork between the two teams, the progress of the mobile game preparation is very smooth and in the near future, Chinese players can enjoy the genuine game anytime, anywhere on the mobile phone,” reads a statement attributed to Kim Changhan, CEO of PUBG and Ma Xiaoyi, Senior Vice President of Tencent Group via this Chinese website (and Google Translate).

PUBG is available on Windows PC and heads to Xbox One very shortly.
