PUBG Corp. drops lawsuit against Epic Games and no one knows why

PUBG Corp. has dropped its lawsuit against Epic Games, though no one knows why.

PUBG Corp. is the company behind PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and Epic, Fortnite: Battle Royale. Back in January of this year, PUBG. Corp filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against Epic, though media outlets weren’t aware of its existence until May of this year.

Not that it matters anymore; Bloomberg today reports that PUBG Corp. has sent a letter of withdrawal to Epic Games’ attorneys earlier this week. As a result, the lawsuit lodged by PUBG Corp. in South Korea has since been closed.

While PUBG Corp. and its lawyers have confirmed that the suit has been dropped, they wouldn’t confirm why. Similarly, representatives of Epic have yet to make comment.

We’ll report back on the lawsuit — or lack thereof — as more is known.
