Prey: Bethesda aims to fix game-breaking PC bug this week

Prey‘s game-breaking PC bug will be fixed this week, Bethesda has told IGN.

The site’s Dan Stapleton encountered a bug approximately 30 hours into his campaign, resulting in a corruption of his save files. Reverting back to a previous save would render the game playable for approximately one hour before the corruption returned. Polygon’s Arthur Gies has also encountered the same issue at the 40 hour mark.

It’s also been reported that the PC version will crash to desktop quite frequently.

“The team is working diligently on a fix and the aim is to have an update out this week,” a Bethesda representative told IGN, promising more information tomorrow.

For now, there’s not much PC players can do.

“We are looking into the issues that people are experiencing, and are actively working to provide an update to address them,” Bethesda also advised. “We ask that if you are encountering issues, please report them on our support group website.”

The issue looks to be isolated to PC; Stevivor’s own Prey playthrough is at 47 hours on Xbox One, and it’s been smooth sailing all the while.
