Pokemon Go updates benefit those in self-isolation or social distancing

A handful of new Pokemon Go updates are designed to benefit those in self-isolation or practicing social distancing due to the COVID-19 coronavirus.

First, developer Niantic is offering a pack of 30 Insense for 1 Gold Coin. Insense will lure Pokemon to your location, perfect for catching the pocket monsters while safe at home. While Insense normally last 30 minutes, the special 30 pack will last 1 hour each.

Next, traditional Pokemon spawning locations will generate more spawns than before, also making it easier to catch new Pokemon while in seculsion. If you’re near a PokeStop, you’ll find they’re offering more gifts when spun, meaning you’ll have more opportunity to send items to your friends who are in self-isolation.

Finally, the distance required to hatch eggs has been halved for the time being.

This news was coupled with the confirmation that the recently scheduled Abra Community Day would be postponed until further notice.

The updates are live now, and worldwide. Pokemon Go is currently available on iOS and Android devices.
