Pokemon Go may be forced to remove Gyms and Pokestops that are currently on private property as a result of a new lawsuit.
Via Variety, a new California court lawsuit proposes that developer Niantic remove any Gyms or Pokestops within 100 meters of owned or leased property. The suit also proposes that Niantic host a form on its website where people can ask for a removal of an in-game stop if it’s with 40 meters of their residential property. During a three-year period, Niantic will also have to use “commercially reasonable efforts” to resolve disputes and to communicate a resolution within 15 days to 95% of cases received each year.
A further proposition requires Niantic to list a public park’s hours of operation if requested by a county or city government in an attempt to curb trespassing after closing times.
We’ll let you know what the court decides in this matter.
Pokemon Go is currently available on iOS and Android devices.
