Pokemon Go Coins to soon be earned outside Gyms

Pokemon Go Coins will soon be able to be earned outside of Gyms, developer Niantic said.

Players will soon be able to earn Coins through completing Daily Tasks, Niantic has confirmed, with featured activities awarding 5 Coins after they’re all completed. Examples of the Daily Tasks include taking a snapshot of your buddy Pokemon, evolving a Pokemon and powering up a Pokemon.

The earning of Coins from Gyms will change as well — rather than earning six Coins for every hour your Pokemon stays in a Gym, players will only receive two. In total, players will be able to earn 55 Coins a day from all sources.

Australia is looking to receive the update first — we’re stress testers, after all — before a worldwide rollout.

Pokemon Go is available on iOS and Android devices.
