Pokémon Go: Close to 7,800 Starbucks locations in the US are now Pokéstops or Gyms

Niantic today confirmed that close to 7,800 Starbucks locations in the United States have now become Pokémon Go Pokéstops and Gyms.

“Starbucks has played an important role in creating welcoming places for people to come together for refreshment and social engagement,” Niantic CEO John Hanke said via statement.

“The physical locations component of the collaboration is important to us as we look for ways to use technology to encourage exploration, exercise and real world social interaction, and Starbucks’ footprint throughout the U.S. provides an awesome platform.”

As per rumours, the announcement came with a new, Pokémon-themed drink at Starbucks. The only piece of the rumour not yet confirmed is the addition of 100 second generation Pokémon in the game, though Niantic has confirmed that more are coming. Those details will be confirmed during an announcement next week.

We’ll have more as it develops.
