Pokemon Go adds facemasks to customisation options

Pokemon Go has added facemasks to its character customisation options, perfect as we battle the COVID-19 pandemic in real life.

All users have access to the “Simple Mask” (above) inside the Style menu for their character — best yet, your in-game avatar will wear it correctly. The mask will be firmly positioned over their nose and mouth — no chin diapers to be found.

If you’re an American player and a subscriber to a Verizon service, you’ll also gain access to a special Verizon facemask and hoodie — below — for your troubles. You can head to the Niantic Offer Redemption portal between 20 October and 31 December to grab the items.

Pokemon Go is available now on iOS and Android devices. A special Halloween event isn’t far off.
