PlayStation Plus Collection’s Resident Evil 7 can’t be upgraded

No current-gen upgrades for you.

The PlayStation Plus Collection’s version of Resident Evil 7 can’t be upgraded to take advantage of current-gen technologies, it’s recently been discovered.

The PS Plus Collection’s RE7 is the PS4 version of the game and therefore won’t gain the ability to output in 4K resolution with higher framerates, 3D audio and ray-tracing.

If players are hoping for those new bells and whistles, they’ll have to pay for the PS5 version of the game instead (via IGN).

Resident Evil 7 is part of the Smart Delivery over on Xbox consoles, meaning those with the Xbox One version of the title will automatically gain access to its Xbox Series equivalent, thereby able to enjoy this week’s new upgrades.

Resident Evil 7 is available on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4 and PS5. We reviewed it here.
