Aussie dev PlaySide Studios restructure cuts “a number of roles”

We've reached out to find out how many jobs were impacted.

Aussie developer PlaySide Studios has today announced a restructure that “will have an impact on a number of roles,” though it hasn’t detailed just how many employees will lose their jobs.

“Today we’ve made the decision to conduct a restructure across our studios, which will have an impact on a number of roles within PlaySide,” reads an update posted to social media.

“It’s been a tremendously difficult decision to make, and one that we have tried to avoid for as long as possible by reducing costs across the business and redeploying staff onto other projects as various contract work has rolled off over the last four or five months.”

The studio continued to say it will “support its existing Work for Hire and Publishing partners on active projects, and development on our Original IP titles on PC/Console continues at its current pace.”

The studio also confirmed it will offer outplacement support and counselling to those impacted by the layoffs.

We’ve reached out to the Melbourne-based developer to confirm how many jobs have been impacted by today’s announcement. (Update: PlaySide advised it had no further comment today beyond its social media post.)

PlaySide is set to publish MOUSE P.I. For Hire, a title developed by Polish studio Fumi Games, across PC and consoles later this year.
