Peridot is a Tamagotchi-like game from Pokemon Go developer

Niantic's working on something very cute.

Peridot is the next title from Pokemon Go developer Niantic Labs and looks to be a cross between PoGo and something more akin to Tamagotchi.

“If pets are a part of your life, you already know the joy that they can bring. The simple act of caring for an animal and watching them grow is immensely rewarding, especially when you’ve forged a real bond with your pet,” Niantic said in a new blog.

“Introducing Peridot: an all-new, real-world AR mobile game, and original franchise that puts the joy of caring for, raising, and breeding adorable one-of-a-kind creatures in your hands.”

Planned for iOS and Android devices, with a soft launch “available in limited markets for beta testing,” players will be able to care for virtual pets, breed new pets and take companions out for activities like walks and playdates.

We’ll have more on Peridot as it’s made available; in the meantime, check out its teaser trailer below.
