PAX AUS 2023 Friday session to be marred by rail strike

Blergh.

Attendees to PAX AUS 2023’s Friday session take note: Melbourne’s rail network looks set to strike, making it just that little bit harder to get to where you want to go.

Namely, the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre in the city’s CBD.

According to The Age, the Rail, Tram and Bus Union intends to strike between a four-hour period — 10.00 am – 2.00 pm — on Friday, 6 October. That’s the first day of PAX AUS 2023, for those unaware.

The union also plans to strike on Wednesday, 11 October, but PAX AUS will be done and dusted by then.

Two-week notice means the strike may not go ahead; we’ll keep you informed as we learn more. In a worst case scenario, it appears that trains — specifically because of train controllers, signallers and support staff at stations — will be the only method of public transport impacted, so those needing to get to PAX AUS could use trams or buses. We’d also imagine replacement buses would replace trains, but if you’ve had to use one of those of late, you know how that goes.

PAX AUS 2023 will be held over 6-8 October 2023 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
