Palworld ditches Pokemon-like summoning amid Nintendo lawsuit

Didn't see that coming...

Palworld has dropped Pokemon-like summoning via Pokeballs Pal Spheres in the midst of an ongoing lawsuit with Nintendo and The Pokemon Company over patent infringements.

As we reported last month, similarities to Pokeballs and riding of Pokemon were the two big issues detailed by The Pokemon Company and Nintendo in their lawsuit, which Palworld dev Pocketpair is fighting.

Today, very thin patch 0.3.11 notes have confirmed that Pal Sphere functionality has been nerfed.

Pocketpair said it has “changed the behaviour of summoning player-owned Pals so that they are always summoned near the player” rather than allowing a player the chance to throw a Pal Sphere to summon a Pal where it lands.

We’ll keep you informed as proceedings between Pocketpair and Nintendo continue.

Palworld is now available on Windows PC, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PS5; it’s also part of Xbox and PC Game Pass. Finally, the title is also planned for release on iOS and Android devices.
