Overwatch’s Soldier 76 is the latest hero to come out as gay

Overwatch‘s Soldier 76 is the latest hero to come out of the closet as gay, thanks to a new short story released by Blizzard.

Spoilers for the short story are ahead.

The short story, titled Bastet, revolves around Ana and her relationship with Soldier 76, Jack Morrison. Written by Overwatch Lead Writer, Michael Chu, Bastet details Jack’s lost love, a man named Vincent. The story details that Solider 76 chose to protect the world with Overwatch rather than stay with his true love. Sad much?

The short story can be read in full here.

Soldier 76 joins Tracer as identifying as queer. Chu’s said in past that “multiple heroes” identify as such, though their journey from the closet has been slow.

Overwatch is currently available on Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4.
