Overwatch’s new Competitive ban system starts next week

Overwatch‘s new ban system will go into effect next week, developer Blizzard has declared.

The system is meant to block repeat offenders inside Competitve play.

From 27 September, players with three or more seasonal Competitive bans will be permanently blocked from the skill-based mode. Seasonal bans do not need to be consecutive, and the number of bans doesn’t get reset at any point in time.

Community Manager Josh Engen took to the game’s forums to detail the new policy, also detailing reasons why a ban could be issued. Leaving matches early without reconnecting is one such example.

Overwatch is available now on Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4. Its new Aussie-based map, Junkertown, heads to the Competitive play rotation next week.
