Overwatch update buffs Ana, nerfs Mercy

A new Overwatch update will buff Ana and nerf Mercy, developer Blizzard has advised.

First, Ana’s Biotic Rifle damage will be bumped from 60 to 70.

“Ana has been outshined by other support heroes lately,” Blizzard said of the change. “Boosting her damage will help her defend herself and make her more threatening to the enemy team.”

Mercy, who was buffed less than a month ago, will be nerfed in response. First, Resurrection will go from instant cast to taking 1.75 seconds to cast. When Valkyrie is activated, Resurrection will go back to instant cast.

That’s not all — next, Mercy’s movement speed will be cut by 75% while she is casting. Her cast can be interrupted if she’s stunned, hacked, or knocked back mid-cast.

“We feel that Mercy’s recent rework has been successful, but the Resurrect ability still feels too strong and frustrating to play against,” Blizzard explained. “Now that it has a cast time, there is more room for enemies to counter the ability.”

What do you make of this new set of changes? They’re up now on the PC’s PTR.

Overwatch is available now on Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4.
