Overwatch: Don’t save your current Loot Boxes for Ana, ’cause they won’t work

Blizzard has today advised that any Overwatch Loot Boxes learned ahead of Ana Amari’s actual debut will not provide any skins, sprays, emotes or voice lines for the character.

“We know what some of you may want to try to prepare for her arrival either by stocking up on Loot Boxes or holding off on opening the ones you already have,” wrote Community Manager Lylirra.

“Before you do that, though, please remember the following: Loot Box contents are generated at the time that they are earned or purchased, NOT when they are opened. This means that any Loot Box you earn or purchase now, or at any point before Ana is released, will not have a chance to contain her cosmetic items.”

Loot Boxes earned or purchased after Ana’s debut, of course, will have that chance.

Overwatch is available now on Xbox One, PS4 and Windows PC. Ana’s debut has yet to be dated.
