Overwatch: This is why Blizzard didn’t go with Terry Crews for Doomfist

Overwatch developer Blizzard has explained why they went with voice actor Sahr Ngaujah over fan-favourite Terry Crews for the role of Doomfist.

Simply put, Ngaujah was better.

“We love Terry. Terry’s awesome. He came and visited us. We had a great time,” Senior Designer Michael Chu told Gamespot.

“When we were looking for Doomfist, we were looking for something very specific given his role in the game and everything. When we were early in the audition process, we heard Sahr, who’s the actor who plays Doomfist, and he just blew us away immediately. Once we heard his voice, it was like, ‘Holy crap. That’s Doomfist.'”

There you have it.

Terry Crews has already said he didn’t want to voice the character and “hijack” the game. He’s also appearing as a headliner inside Crackdown 3.

Overwatch is available now on Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4. Doomfist joins the fray on 27 July.
