Overwatch 2 story missions cost $15 USD for permanent access

"They really took content out of the game and then charged you to keep the campaign missions," writes one player in response.

Overwatch 2 story missions will come as part of Overwatch 2 Invasion, and mean players will need to shell out $15 USD for permanent access to them.

According to Activision Blizzard, Invasion will include “new Story Missions, an all-new PVP core game mode, new ways to build on your skills with your favourite heroes… and a new Support hero.”

The full contents of the $15 USD bundle is as follows:

  • Permanent access to the Overwatch 2: Invasion Story Missions
  • 1000 Overwatch Coins (equal to the Premium Battle Pass, $10 value)
  • A brand-new Sojourn Legendary skin ($19 value)
  • Permanent access to Sojourn as a playable hero for new players: unlocked upon completing Story Mission challenges.

A more expensive option for the bundle also exists in the form of a $40 USD Ultimate Invasion bundle; it includes Battle Pass skips, more Coins and more skins.

Needless to say, the news of paying for permanent access to story missions didn’t sit well with players, especially following the news that a permanent PvE mode had been scrapped.

“They really took content out of the game and then charged you to keep the campaign missions,” wrote one user on Twitter. “Holy shit.”

“These story missions better be the best thing you’ve ever put out. If they’re not and you’re charging people for them, good luck,” wrote another.

Overwatch 2 is a free-to-play title available on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4, PS5 and Switch.
