Activision will not release Overwatch 2, Diablo 4 in 2021

It's 2022 at the earliest.

Activision Blizzard will not publish Overwatch 2 or Diablo 4 in 2021, it confirmed today in an earnings call.

Blizzard used the call to announce that Overwatch 2 had massed a major development milestone back in December 2020 — with “hundreds” of developers taking part — but nevertheless, that it wouldn’t release until 2022 at the earliest.

The earnings call also confirmed the publisher’s intent to launch a new, premium Call of Duty game in Q4 2021 alongside new remastered content at some point in the year. It’s unconfirmed what that remastered content includes, but fans are hopeful it will revolve around fan-favourite Diablo 2.

We’ll have more on Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4 as news is made available. Until then, you’re reminded that BlizzConline takes place later in the month over 20-21 February.
