Overwatch 2 Battle Pass will have unlockable heroes

Have a favourite? You might have to earn the right to play as them.

The Overwatch 2 Battle Pass will likely contain access to some of its playable heroes, if a statement that appeared on a Blizzard website can be believed.

Copy on Blizzard’s own website, now removed, has made the confirmation ahead of an official statement.

“With the Season One Premium Battle Pass you can unlock over 80 tiers of rewards including Mythic Cyber Demon Genji, Legendary Hinotori Kiriko, and more,” the statement read. “In addition, as a Season One Premium Battle Pass owner you will automatically receive access to Overwatch’s latest hero Kiriko!”

Blizzard has been reluctant to talk about Overwatch 2‘s paid options — including during a hands-off preview back in June — though the company’s John Spector has gone on the offensive. Taking to Twitter, Spector said the leaked information about the Battle Pass was “incomplete”.

“We’ll be sharing all details ahead of launch, but want to confirm that new Overwatch 2 heroes will be available on the free track of the Battle Pass,” Spector wrote.

We’ll keep you informed as we learn more.

Overwatch 2 goes free-to-play on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4, PS5 and Switch on 5 October 2022 here in Australia.
