Original Xbox backwards compatibility “on track” says Spencer

Three new original Xbox titles are seeming being prepped for backwards compatibility on Xbox One.

While original Xbox titles Crimson Skies and Fusion Frenzy were already confirmed as backwards compatible titles, Reddit user HiPanda123 has spotted three more: Neo Wave, Dead to Rights and Red Faction II.

A release date for original Xbox backwards compatibility has yet to be named, through Xbox’s Phil Spencer told Gamespot the functionality is “on track”.

“I know the games that are coming for the original Xbox but I don’t think we’ve announced them all,” Spencer said. “We have to do this in partnership with partners, but we’re still on track. I feel really good. The games look great.

“There’s some stuff we’re going to talk about terms of how compatibility’s going to work on Xbox One X specifically that I think people will find pretty interesting.”

Original Xbox titles on Xbox One will not support widescreen modes or Achievements, mostly because they rely on the base code to operate.
