Oculus VR to require Facebook account in October 2020

Those using an Oculus VR device for the first time will need to log in using a Facebook account from October 2020, Facebook and Oculus have recently announced.

“Today, we’re announcing some important updates to how people log into Oculus devices, while still keeping their VR profile. Starting in October 2020, everyone using an Oculus device for the first time will need to log in with a Facebook account,” Oculus said on Twitter.

In a blog post, it was further revealed that first-time users will need a Facebook account to log into the Oculus ecosystem at that time, while those with existing Oculus accounts will have two years to merge that with a Facebook one. Oculus accounts will no longer be supported from January 2023.
