Nintendo’s Iwata not attending E3 due to health-related reasons

Nintendo today confirmed that its President Satoru Iwata will not be attending this year’s E3 at the advise of his physician.

Stressing that it was still “business as usual”, Nintendo didn’t provide any further details on why Iwata would remain in Japan rather than travel to Los Angeles.

“He’s been instructed by his physician not to travel overseas in the immediate future, and so he will not be making the trip to Los Angeles,” Nintendo VP or Corporate Affairs Cindy Gordon said in an email received by Polygon. “Please understand that it is business as usual for Mr. Iwata, and he continues his normal duties as president of Nintendo Co., Ltd. while he remains in Japan. As always, he will be actively involved in all of Nintendo’s activities at the show.”

There’s no ‘please understand’ jokes this time around. We here at Stevivor wish Iwata-san a speedy recovery.
