Nintendo’s Fils-Aime: Wii U sales quadrupled in Mario Kart 8’s opening week

Nintendo of America President and COO Reggie Fils-Aime spoke with Polygon recently, telling the publication that week-to-week sales of the Wii U have quadrupled thanks to the release of Mario Kart 8.

Fils-Aime also said that 18% of existing Wii U owners bought a copy of Mario Kart 8 in the game’s opening weekend, making it the fastest selling Wii U game to date alongside those who picked up the Wii U, Mario Kart 8 bundle.

It mightn’t entirely save the Wii U from the slump it’s now in, but it certainly won’t hurt, either.
