Nintendo wants to boost sales with low-cost software

Nintendo’s Satoru Iwata said that the publisher is seeking to boost sales by introducing more low-cost software to the market.

In an interview with The Nikkei, the current plan is to release remakes of older titles for the Nintendo 3DS, perhaps in the same way as The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D, as well as putting out releases previously seen on smartphones. The software would be available for around a few hundred yen, Iwata said.

“We aim to return to profit levels more typical of the company in the year ending March 2017,” Iwata said, saying that free trials will increase, but consoles prices will not be touched.
