Nintendo Switch: Miis are optional, can be transferred from 3DS or Wii U via amiibo

Speaking with Kotaku, Nintendo confirmed that Miis will be an optional presence on its new console, Switch.

“Mii characters can be used to represent a user profile, but are not required,” a Nintendo rep told the site.

“Users also have the option to choose a profile picture from an included library of Nintendo character images. Mii characters can still be used in games if developers choose to include them.”

The Switch will have a Mii maker built-in, so new Miis can be made on the console. Those who wish to bring old Miis over from 3DS or Wii U can use an amiibo to transfer them.

The Switch hits stores shelves on 3 March, priced at $469.95 AUD.
