Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers program to end in January 2026

Stock up now, or just mourn savings?

The Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers program will start to end in January 2026, Nintendo has today advised.

“After January 30th, 2026, [Nintendo Switch] Game Vouchers will no longer be sold” the company stated on social media, adding that “any Game Vouchers bought will remain valid for 12 months after purchase.”

If you’re new to the Game Vouchers scheme, it’s one that allows you to buy a discounted double-pass for select first-party Nintendo games. Priced at $135.95 AUD here in Australia, one set of Game Vouchers will allow you to then purchase the likes of Pokemon Legends Z-A (normally $89.95 AUD) and Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition ($79.95 AUD). In our example, you’d save $33.95 AUD using the Game Vouchers as compared to buying the titles outright.

The example of Pokemon Z-A is a good one, as the title is not yet available; Nintendo insisted that new Switch titles will continue to be added to the program throughout 2026.

Logic dictates that players will be able to buy games with said vouchers up until 30 January 2027 at the very latest.

If you want to buy a Nintendo Switch Game Voucher, you can do so here. Further FAQs on the program’s removal can be found here.
