Nintendo Switch 2 specs detailed

Nintendo has finally detailed the specs of the Switch 2, and we’ve got them here for you.

It boasts a 7.9″ LCD screen, capable of 1080p with HDR and VRR up to 120Hz. Nintendo added that the Switch 2 has “significantly improved CPU and GPU performance over Nintendo Switch, resulting in faster processing speed and enabling new visually advanced gameplay.”

Nintendo confirmed that both Joy-Cons can be used as a mouse, and are indeed attached to the console via magnets. Nintendo also established that the console has a built-in microphone used for GameChat. Features such as these will be detailed in a game called Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour.

The console also boasts two USB-C ports — one on top, and one on the bottom of the console — to charge or to connect optional peripherals including the Switch 2 camera.

The console will boast 256GB of internal storage for digital games. In terms of additional storage, the Switch 2 is compatible with microSD Express cards up to 2 TB.

“MicroSD memory cards that are not compatible with microSD Express can only be used to copy screenshots and videos from Nintendo Switch,” Nintendo confirmed.

“On Nintendo Switch 2, the sound quality is more natural and clearer with an even more balanced sound range,” Nintendo added. “When playing in handheld mode or tabletop mode, players will be able to experience games with even more immersive, three-dimensional sound.”

Nintendo also confirmed the Switch 2 dock will offer HDR and up to 4K resolution at 60 frames-per-second, or up to 120 frames-per-second at lower resolutions for “supported games”.
