Nintendo plans scheduled online maintenance next week

Nintendo has today advised of scheduled online maintenance to take place next week.

The works, affecting both Wii U and the 3DS, begin at 11.00 am AEST on 12 January and will run until 9.00 pm AEST 12 that same day.

Nintendo hasn’t advised as to why the downtime is necessary, but fans are hopeful it’s the publisher laying the groundwork for its new My Nintendo account system.

The My Nintendo account system is currently live in Japan.
