Nintendo names new President, Tatsumi Kimishima

Last night, Nintendo named Tatsumi Kimishima the new President of the company.

As new President of Nintendo Co., Ltd, Kimishima will take over from Shigeru Miyamoto and Genyo Takeda, current caretakers of the company. Both Miyamoto and Takeda were placed as caretakers in the wake of former President Satoru Iwata’s death.

Kimishima was previously the President of Nintendo of America, and more recently was in the position of Managing Director of Nintendo Co., Ltd. He has also worked with The Pokémon Company and Pokémon USA.

Sources close to the company have revealed to the Nikkei that Kimishima plans to follow the strategy and policies previously set by President Satoru Iwata in order to future-proof the company.

In the wake of the new appointment, Shigeru Miyamoto will serve as the newly-created Creative Fellow, while Genyo Takeda has been placed as Technology Fellow.
