Nintendo Australia starts direct pre-orders of Switch 2, peripherals later today

Get ready.

Nintendo Australia will offer direct pre-orders of the Switch 2 and its peripherals — including the GameCube controller — from 6pm AEST today, 24 April. Pre-ordering key items will require a Nintendo Switch Online subscription.

While there were fears that retailers like EB Games would lock pre-orders to paid subscribers, Nintendo Australia is doing just that — you’ll need a Nintendo Switch Online subscription to register “expressions of interest” for the Nintendo Switch 2, the Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle, and the GameCube controller.

Nintendo Switch Online subscriptions are not needed for the remainder of peripherals found on the My Nintendo Store, including a Switch 2 Pro controller, 256GB MicroSD Express memory card, Joy-Cons, and more.

If you’re keen to pre-order items, head to the Nintendo Australia storefront from 6pm AEST this afternoon.
