NHL 25 skips last-gen, coming 5 October

ICE-Q is the new buzzword.

NHL 25 was today detailed by EA, coming to current-gen consoles only (and still not on PC) on 5 October here in Australia.

Detailing the yearly hockey title, EA said that NHL 25 will feature “true hockey intelligence” in ICE-Q, “[a] trio of new features [that] gives players more control over the action than ever before, a major upgrade to the reliability and accuracy of CPU players, and a massive new animation set that makes gameplay a more seamless and realistic experience.”

As usual, new presentation features will feature in this year’s iteration, including an “all-new Grudge Match System keeps track of the competitive history between teams” alongside “the introduction of SAPIEN Technology to the NHL franchise takes character likenesses to a whole other level”.

Additional improvements include a “revamped Franchise Mode experience, a brand-new WOC Live Events structure, HUT Wildcard Mode, and a simplified, single-path XP progression shared across [Hockey Ultimate Team].”

Most importantly for those on Xbox One and PS4, NHL 25 will skip last-gen consoles, this year only available on Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PS5. As you can see above, Quinn, Jack and Luke Hughes will serve as this year’s cover stars.

NHL 25 heads to Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PS5 on 5 October here in Australia; those who purchase its Deluxe Edition will gain access from 28 September.
