NHL 25 adding 3v3 Arcade, PWHL, 4 Nations Face-Off

3v3 Arcade comes later this week.

NHL 25 will had a host of new modes starting this week and into “early next year,” EA has today announced. 3v3 Arcade kicks things off later this week, followed by the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) in December, and 4 Nations Face-Off content coming in 2025.

3v3 Arcade is a throwback to 2009’s 3 on 3 NHL Arcade, a title released on both Xbox 360 and PS3. It featured arcade style 3v3 gameplay paired with comically bobbleheaded players.

“The NHL Arcade event series will begin on November 15 [or 16 November in Australia] within World of Chel, offering players a unique and fun arcade-style 3-on-3 experience with the return of Big Heads and power-up features that can be collected on the ice and used against opponents,” Electronic Arts said of the content. “Power-ups include Supershot, Freeze, Super Speed, Small and Big Goalies, and more.”

Next up, the PWHL will be added to NHL 25 from 6 December here in Australia, and will include “all six teams – the Boston Fleet, Minnesota Frost, Montréal Victoire, New York Sirens, Ottawa Charge, and Toronto Sceptres in Play Now, Online Versus, Shootout and Season Modes.”

“Our partnership with EA Sports opens new doors to elevate women’s hockey across all levels,” said Amy Scheer of the PWHL. “Through this alliance, we’ll develop in-game and out-of-game experiences that strengthen the bond between our teams, players, and fans, bringing the PWHL closer to the global hockey community.”

Finally, content celebrating the NHL’s 4 Nations Face-Off will be added in 2025.

“4 Nations Face-Off content will feature NHL players from Canada, Finland, Sweden and the USA and will be included in Hockey Ultimate Team (HUT), Play Now, Online Versus, Shootout and a bespoke Tournament mode,” EA confirmed. “The nations’ uniforms will also be available in World of Chel as part of the major tournament update.”

NHL 25 is available on Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PS5. We reviewed it here.
