NHL 18 Stanley Cup simulation tips Winnipeg Jets as champions

NHL 18‘s prediction of the Stanley Cup championship team has been decided via simulation, EA today detailed.

Now that the playoff brackets have been decided, NHL 18 has predicted that the Winnipeg Jets will best the Boston Bruins, four games to three, to become Canada’s first Stanley Cup championship team in 25 long years.

Sadly, NHL‘s Stanley Cup predictions haven’t been that great; last year, NHL 17 didn’t simulate Pittsburgh as the overall winner.

In this year’s simulation, Winnipeg bested the new expansion team, the Las Vegas Golden Knights, in a 4-2 Western Conference semifinal matchup. The Golden Knights, a true NHL Cinderella story, bested the Los Angeles Kings 4-2, followed by a 4-3 victory of the San Hose Sharks.

Over in the Eastern Conference, the Washington Capitals finally bested the Pittsburgh Penguins (though we’ll see if that happens in real life) before losing out to Boston.

The real-life Stanley Cup playoffs start today, with Winnipeg playing the Minnesota Wild at 9.00 am AEST. The Philadelphia Flyers play the Pittsburgh Penguins at the same time, followed by the Los Angeles Kings and Los Vegas Golden Knights at 12.00 pm AEST.

Who are you hoping will win the Stanley Cup this year?

NHL 18 is currently available on Xbox One and PS4. It’s EA Sports’ only title that doesn’t use the famed Frostbite engine.
