Next-gen Mortal Kombat 1 reboot all but confirmed

Let's see how long Warner Bros and NetherRealm drag this out...

A new, next-gen Mortal Kombat 1 reboot is all but confirmed, with NetherRealm’s Ed Boon making social media teases as leaks emerge.

First, Boon took to Twitter with a tease of a clock heading towards midnight… and then continuing on to 1 o’clock. Hmm.

There’s a lot to unpack in such a simple video. First, the next Mortal Kombat game will be the 12th major release in the franchise. The skipping to 1? Well, leaks can explain that one.

PlayStation Plus catalog leaker Billbil-kun says that NetherRealm is rebooting Mortal Kombat with this installment, going as far to title the release Mortal Kombat 1.

The leak suggests that Mortal Kombat 1 will be released on Windows PC, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X and PS5 only, and will be offered in three different editions: Standard, Premium, and a Kollector’s Edition. Pricing ranges from $59.99 USD to $249.9 USD.

Billbil-kun says that an “announcement should be close”, so we’ll keep you posted.

What do you make of the rumoured Mortal Kombat 1?
