New Star Wars movie written, directed by Taika Waititi

A new Star Wars movie will be written and directed by Taika Waititi (Jojo Rabbit, Thor Ragnarok), Disney has today confirmed.

Waititi will be working on the screenplay with Academy Award nominee, Krysty Wilson-Cairns (1917, Last Night in Soho). Beyond that, not much else is known.

Moreover, Disney has confirmed that a new Star Wars television show is also in the works, currently in development by Leslye Headland (Russian Doll, Bachelorette). This will mark the fourth Star Wars television show; this and The Mandalorian are joined by a Cassian Andor series that takes place before Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and another following Obi-Wan Kenobi and set between Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope has also been announced.

We’ll have more on the Taika Waititi Star Wars film as it’s made available.
