New report slams Activision Blizzard, EA for overpaying CEOs

A new report from As You Sow says that Activision Blizzard and EA are among companies with overpaid CEOs.

As You Sow is a non-profit organisation that preaches corporate social responsibility, and has listed both EA and Activision Blizzard among a list of the top 100 companies with overpaid Chief Executive Officers. These conclusions were arrived at through an analysis of the CEO’s salary compared to the average income made by an employee at the same company among other key factors.

Gamesindustry.biz has crunched the numbers — Activision Blizzard’s Bobby Kotick earns a salary of $28,698,375 USD, which is 306 times more than an average employee. Over at EA, CEO Andrew Wilson reportedly earns $35,728,764 USD, 371 times more than an average EA employee. In the list, Activision Blizzard ranked 45th, and EA 98th.

The reports comes after Activision Blizzard announced it has laid off 800 employees and EA has confirmed layoffs at Melbourne’s Firemonkeys.

As You Sow lists companies like Netflix and Disney as overpaying their CEOs.
