A new Exodus trailer that debuted at last night’s Game Awards show off more of its protagonist, Jun, who just happens to be voiced by Hollywood icon Matthew McConaughey.
“Jun comes from humble beginnings, but carries the legacy of a revered Traveler dynasty. Hidden beneath his unassuming origins lies a genetic heritage that grants Jun extraordinary powers and abilities unlike any other human,” Wizards of the Coast and Archetype Entertainment said in a press release.
“Players will shape Jun’s destiny through moral choices and conflicting agendas that echo across generations. Fans will determine who Jun ultimately becomes through their actions and choices, all while the fate of their home planet, and beyond, lies in the balance.”
“You were never meant to live and die scraping through wreckage. The gift inside you makes you the only one who can rise to face what’s coming. Step forward, seize your destiny, and lead an interstellar crew across a vast galaxy alive with wonder and danger,” a description on the new trailer reads. “To save your homeworld, you must confront the Celestials—humanity’s evolution 40,000 years in the future—and steal their technology that could give your world a fighting chance.
“But the fight for survival has consequences… Interstellar travel at the edge of lightspeed can turn days for you into decades for your loved ones back home. How far are you willing to venture? How much are you willing to sacrifice?”
Exodus is planning an early 2027 release; Archetype Entertainment is made up of former devs of studios including BioWare, Naughty Dog, 343 Industries, Blizzard and more.
