New Disney+ Vision TV show bad news for Star Trek Legacy fans

Terry Matalas is going to be concentrating on Marvel and not Star Trek.

A Vision TV show has been confirmed for Disney+, and while it’s great news for Marvel fans, it’s terrible news for those hoping for a Star Trek Legacy TV show.

As reported by Variety, the Vision series will see Paul Bettany reprise his role as the android Avenger, but more importantly will feature Star Trek Picard Season 3 showrunner Terry Matalas at its helm.

Matalas (pictured at far left, above) will act as showrunner on Vision while WandaVision creator Jac Schaeffer has her attention set on Agatha All Along, another spin-off starring Kathryn Hahn as Agatha.

Star Trek fans have been asking for a continuation of Star Trek Picard Season 3 since that season’s launch. Known as Star Trek Legacy, the pitch would feature Next Generation-, Deep Space Nine-, and Voyager-era crews interacting with their new 25th Century counterparts.

Matalas, who worked as showrunner of 12 Monkeys before Picard, was keen to helm Legacy, but the man’s gotta pay his bills somehow; with no movement from Paramount, he’s sadly had to move on himself.

This announcement comes more than a year after Star Trek head Alex Kurtzmann (far right in the image above), told Star Trek fans that he heard the call for Legacy “loud and clear”.

Vision is expected on Disney+ in 2026.
