This looks great.
New Control Resonant gameplay has teased what a titular Resonant really is. And while we don’t know for certain at present, it’s all mysterious (and cool) as hell.
In the gameplay, narrated by Remedy’s Mikael Kasurinen, protagonist Dylan Faden enters the West Incursion Zone Resonant, something that Dylan’s apparent ally, Zoe, says, “no one should have survived”.
Once inside, Dylan starts to fight something that looks like a cross between a flying, Hiss-style whale and manta ray. Whatever it was, it was damn cool. Is that the resonant?
As it turns out, yes? Or more likely, the being seen right at the very end of the trailer.
“Resonants are the dominant threat in what’s our most ambitious game to date,” said Kasurinen, the director of Control Resonant, teasing what’s to come as those (truly horrifying) visuals bounced across the screen.
“Resonants are remnants of people who once held great power, now corrupted and twisted by the same mysterious force threatening reality itself,” Sergey Mohov, senior game designer, said over on the PlayStation Blog. “While encountering Resonants is dangerous, defeating them is the primary way Dylan expands his supernatural arsenal, as each one he vanquishes rewards him with a brand-new combat ability. This is why our game is called Control Resonant!
Control Resonant is planned for a 2026 release on Windows PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, Mac via Steam and the Apple App Store, and consoles including Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PS5. We previewed it here, and learned a bit about the game’s new big bad here.
