New Batman game from Rocksteady, Wonder Woman still “years away”

Chaos at Warner Bros.

A new Batman game is reportedly in production at Rocksteady, with that same Bloomberg report also suggesting Monolith’s Wonder Woman is still “years away” from release.

Jason Schreier made the allegations over the weekend, tied to a larger piece that detailed larger turmoil over at Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment.

Schreier cited “people familiar with the business” when it comes to Wonder Woman, a title first announced back in late 2021. Reportedly already costing more than $100 million USD to produce, Wonder Woman is “years away from release” if at all; its fate “remains in question”.

The report says that Wonder Woman has transitioned to a “more traditional action-adventure game” after experimentation with Shadow of War‘s Nemesis system proved problematic. Gotham Knights studio Warner Bros Montreal is reportedly assisting Monolith in getting Wonder Woman out the door.

Schreier also reported that Warner Bros Montreal was hoping to make a game based on John Constantine but was moved to a Flash game before its 2023 feature film release. The failure of said film has caused that project to be cancelled as well.

Finally, a new Rocksteady Batman game is also “years away from landing”, but that’s okay as it’s not yet been formally announced. This decision follows Rocksteady’s failed Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League.

Warner Bros has recently announced that its on-again, off-again MultiVersus will be permanently off in late May.
