New Alan Wake 2 gameplay shows strong link to Control

Spoilers follow, of course.

New Alan Wake 2 gameplay from IGN shows off puzzles, exploration… and a very strong link to Remedy’s other big hit, Control.

Spoilers follow from this point forward.

In the footage, below, protagonist Sara Anderson walks into the sleepy town of Watery, and almost immediately comes upon Control janitor Ahti.

This encounter was practically telegraphed in Control; Ahti will provide Jesse Faden a Watery postcard as part of proceedings.

There’s SO much more in the video that ties back into Control and into the original Alan Wake itself, but we’ll leave that for you to discover.

Alan Wake 2 heads to Windows PC, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X and PS5 on 27 October 2023. Check out our recent Summer Game Fest preview here, and our interview with Sam Lake and Kyle Rowley here.
