Netflix working on re-encoding its entire library

Variety today reports that Netflix is hard at work changing the way it encodes video.

The company will move away from encoding videos specifically for bandwidth and instead focus on a method that suits each individual title.

The example of My Little Pony versus The Avengers was used, with Netflix saying the latter requires a different algorithm due to its visual detail.

Variety reports that Netflix plans to re-encode its entire library.
