NES Classic Mini: One was sold on eBay every 18 seconds at launch

As Australians are well aware, the NES Classic Mini is in high demand. Continuing the trend, eBay has revealed that one retro console was sold every 18 seconds on launch day.

eBay’s Vice President of North America Merchandising, Hard Goods, Jay Hanson, told Polygon that the auction site is, “the destination for hard-to-find consoles, from the rare and vintage variety, to hot trending options, like the Nintendo NES Classic Edition.”

“We sold one every 18 seconds on its release day,” Hanson confirmed.

Sales have now slowed to one every minute and 23 seconds.

No matter the time frame, you can bet the prices on those in-demand pieces of nostalgia are very inflated.

It’s unclear if a new shipment of consoles will be available before Christmas.
