Yay?
Today is N7 Day, or 7 November in North America, and with that has come some very light news updates from BioWare and EA on Mass Effect.
Mass Effect executive producer Mike Gamble first provided an update on the next Mass Effect video game, confirming that it is in fact in continued production.
“The truth is, the last few years have been an incredibly busy time at BioWare. But currently, the team is heads-down and focused exclusively on Mass Effect,” Gamble wrote.
“We have a lot of universe to cover, lots of features to build, and lots of romances to figure out. We’re excited by what we’re building, and we promise you: when we’re ready, it’ll be a lot of fun to show. Until then, thank you for your patience because y’all are thirsty for news and I see you looking for secret meaning in my tweets (okay, sometimes they have secret meaning).”
We’ve left Gamble’s random italicised letters in the quotes above, because despite his disclaimer that “there is no secret game information to be gleaned by anything I’m saying today, I promise,” there is.
All italicised letters seem to spell out “urlkrogann7”, or “URL”, “Krogan”, and “N7” most likely. As to what that actually means? No one is sure yet, but this subreddit is on the case.
UPDATE: Well, that was quick. A new page on the EA website titled “The N7 Day 2025 Krogan Civil War Page” is where the secret clue leads us, and offers up a lovely high-resolution image titled “Civil War”. You can go and check it out, and download the image in question, here.
Gamble’s update also touched on the in-production live action Mass Effect TV show, and the franchise’s inclusion as part of crossovers into Skate and Apex Legends.
We’ll update you if sleuths figure out what Gamble’s secret message is.
