MultiVersus is now officially offline until 2024

Weird.

MultiVersus is now fully offline, unavailable to new players until 2024.

As we previously detailed, MultiVersus was pulled from online stores on 4 April; those who’ve already “purchased” the free-to-play game can still download it but will be restricted to offline play until an unnamed date in 2024.

Moreover, no refunds will be available to those who’ve made in-game purchases in the title, which was in “open beta” status up until yesterday, 26 June..

“This announcement does not change any current refund policies or terms offered by the storefront(s) from which Founder’s Packs or Gleamium bundles were purchased,” reads an FAQ from developer Player First Games.

All purchases and progress made before 26 June will carry over into the 2024 relaunch, the developer also confirmed. Offline progress will not count or be recorded for the relaunched title.

“Thank you for your continued support throughout our Open Beta,” reads part of a message that greets returning players trying to login. “We greatly appreciate your passion and excitement and can’t wait to share our next chapter with you.”

MultiVersus started strong, but quickly lost its cadence when it came to new characters and maps.

If you already downloaed it, MultiVersus is available on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4 and PS5. We previewed it here and have criticised its microtransations right here.
