MultiVersus adds Jason Voorhees, Agent Smith

Name a more iconic duo.

Warner Bros’ MultiVersus will add Friday the 13th‘s Jason Voorhees and The Matrix‘s Agent Smith when it relaunches next week.

The two new characters aren’t the only addition to the mascot fighter’s roster — The Joker was announced a while back, as too was Adventure Time‘s Banana Guard.

A mode PvE mode called Rifts will also be introduced, in which different mutators will present themselves as challenges.

“Rifts Mode is a way for all players to play MultiVersus and progress their skills, outside of our competitive PVP modes,” developer Player First said, describing the mode. “Each Rift will have a sequence of battles or challenges around a particular theme, whether it’s The Joker infiltrating the Batcave or Batman and Velma teaming up to decide who’s the best detective.”

“These themes will be organized around seasonal ‘Attunements,’ such as Chaos, for the Clown Prince of Crime that is joining our cast in season 1. The same way every MultiVersus battle is bubbling with character interactions, we wanted to make each Rift ‘Uniquely MultiVersus’, every season,” Player First continued.

There’s a bevy of trailers to check out above and below if you’re interested.

MultiVersus heads (back) to Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4, and PS5 on 28 May. We previewed the open beta here and have criticised its microtransations right here.
